Have you ever seen the Bucket List? You know that coffee that Jack Nicholsen drinks every single day? Well, that is Kopi Luwak, one of the world’s most expensive varieties of coffee.
It is actually made from the beans of coffee berries which have been eaten by the Asian Palm Civet (Mongoose). The animal then poops out these coffee berries, while keeping their shape. Something about the enzyme in the animal’s stomach makes the bean really smooth in taste. Anyways, we went to the Kopi Luwak coffee plantation and tasted Kopi Luwak! We saw a mongoose in the cage, saw the coffee bean poop, watched the roasting process, and then were able to taste many flavors of tea and coffee. As for the Kopi Luwak, it was good, i guess? To be honest, didn’t notice a difference. Had fun tasting the ginger and lemongrass teas though!! Yum yum.
